Attempted Murder Charges Filed in Barboursville Attack; Suspect Remains At Large
Police have filed additional charges against a man wanted in relation to an Aug. 13 incident in Barboursville.
According to a press release published Sept. 28 by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO), Juan Rodriguez-Bedolla, age 57, has been charged with six counts of attempted first-degree murder and two counts of burning or destroying an occupied dwelling. Rodriguez-Bedolla had already been charged with two counts of discharging a firearm in/at an occupied building.
At approximately 8:20 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 13, OCSO responded to a domestic incident with shots fired on the 17000 block of Mansion Road in Barboursville.
“Upon arrival, the residence was engulfed in flames and the occupants were evacuated,” an initial OCSO press release from Aug. 14 states. “The investigation revealed that Juan Rodriguez-Bedolla had fired multiple shots into the residence, blocked the exit so the occupants could not get out and then set the house on fire.”
OCSO Lt. Becky Jones confirmed that none of the occupants were injured during the incident or evacuation.
Rodriguez-Bedolla fled the scene in a 2011 gold Chevrolet Tahoe with Virginia license plate UTK9599, which was later discovered by investigators on Sam Mundy Road in Barboursville. He was last seen driving a red Ford sports utility vehicle, which was found abandoned in Waynesboro in the early morning hours of Aug. 14. According to Lt. Jones, Bedolla-Rodriguez is believed to have subsequently recovered the gold Tahoe and is likely to be currently traveling in the vehicle in an unknown direction.
Rodriguez-Bedolla is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 5’5” tall and 160 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
