Orange Literary and Arts Convention: An Invitation

Come out and celebrate literacy and the arts with Spelled Ink during the first Orange Literacy and Arts Convention (OLACON) on Saturday, March 18, from noon to 8 p.m. There will be so many events to check out!

  • FREE ARTS FAIR with face painting, artists and other vendors on Church Street from noon to 4 p.m.

  • WEAVING WORKSHOP with Carrie Heitsch in the back of 132 W. Main St. The cost is $10 and participants will leave with a new potholder. Drop in from noon to 4 p.m.

  • GLAZE A MUG at Paint It Orange for $15 from noon to 3 p.m. The studio also will be handing out free comic pages. 

  • BOOK SALE at the James Madison Museum. Make sure you visit and see what this cool local museum has to offer.

  • ADULT SPELLING BEE at Iron Pipe Alewerks from 3 to 5 p.m. If you want to throw your hat into the ring, the cost is $15 and proceeds will benefit the Orange County Public Library. Otherwise, just grab a beer and enjoy the spectacle.

  • ART EXHIBIT: Don’t forget to stop by The Arts Center In Orange and check out “The Burden of Invisibility” by Veronica Jackson. Admission is free and the exhibit will be open until 5 p.m.

  • And finally, head back over to Paint It Orange for the TAMING OF THE BREW, an adult book club. It’s 1980s night, so come in your finest neon! Meet local authors and booksellers and enjoy shopping for books, just like when you were a kid. Entry is free and there will be a cash bar inside.
